Yorkville Approves New Liquor License

A new liquor license was approved at the May 14, 2024 Yorkville City Council meeting that allows for the sale of alcohol for consumption at Raging Waves Waterpark. The new license will require patrons to wear a wrist band to purchase and carry alcohol throughout the waterpark. Alcohol service will be allowed between 10a.m. and 6p.m. in non-glass containers. Several Aldermen voiced concerns about the proposed amendment to the liquor code. After an extended discussion, the aldermen split their vote (4-4). Mayor John Purcell was the deciding vote to approve the motion to allow alcohol service at the water park.
