Y115 School Board Approves Appointment to Fill Board Vacancy

At the Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, Y115 School Board special meeting, a motion was made to appoint Wayland Middendorf to fill the Board vacancy. The Board unanimously approved the appointment. Wayland Middendorf ran for the School Board during the last election, but failed to secure enough votes to win a seat. Middendorf has twenty four years of military experience. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps as an Avionics Technician. He also served in the National Guard and as an Inspector General in the United States Army Reserve. Middendorf received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He also has a Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. Middendorf previously worked as an application engineer at NUM Corporation, were he did CNC training, technical support, technical writing, and machine startups. He currently works as a substitute teacher in the Y115 district with twelve + years of experience. His three children recently graduated from the Y115 school district. Now that his children are out of school he is looking to get more involved in the community. The Board will officially swear in Wayland Middendorf at the next Board meeting on Monday, October 30th.
