Tattoo and Body Piercing Code Update in Yorkville

Yorkville staff is recommending approval to update the Tattoo and Body Piercing Code (Title 3, Chapter 10). Currently Yorkville does not have any parcels available that meet the distance restrictions specified in the ordinance. The revised ordinance would remove the distance restrictions to other tattoo or body piercing establishments, single family suburban (R-1), single family traditional (R-2), duplex, two family attached (R-2D), multi family attached R-3), general multi family (R-4), office district (O), agricultural district (A-1), and preexisting schools or place of worship. It would also remove the restriction on being located in a building or structure which contains another business that sells or dispenses alcoholic beverages. Other suggested revisions would align Yorkville code with state and county regulations. Redundant sections covered by the Department of Public Health’s Body Art code would be removed. The hours of operation would be updated, prohibiting operation on Sundays and between 6pm and 10am.
