Salsa Verde in Yorkville to Relocate and Expand

Salsa Verde, a popular Mexican restaurant in Yorkville, is relocating to a new and more prominent location. According to reports from the Yorkville Economic Development Committee (EDC), the Aréchiga family, who owns the restaurant, plans to relocate it to the site of the former Arby's at 1508 N. Bridge Street. This location is situated in the northeast quadrant of Veterans Parkway (U.S. Route 34) and N. Bridge Street.

The Aréchiga family opened their first restaurant, Salsa Verde, in 2012.

Carlos Aréchiga shared, “At the time, we thought it would be a small family venture for our parents to run, something meaningful for them to pour their passion into. We never imagined it would be the start of something so much bigger. The support we’ve received from the community has meant everything, and it’s because of that support that we’ve been able to grow. We’re incredibly grateful and excited to keep moving forward with you.”

This move will enable Salsa Verde to expand its operations. The new space will be approximately 3,200 square feet, which is significantly larger than their current location of 1,800 square feet. The expansion will also include the addition of a drive-up window.

Carlos said, “ Our menu and fast-casual style will stay the same, but the experience is getting an upgrade. The new location will feature a larger dining room, a beautiful patio for outdoor dining, and, of course, the convenience of a drive-thru window.”

The Aréchiga family is thrilled about the upcoming addition of a drive-thru. This concept isn't new to them, as they already operate restaurants in St. Charles and Carpentersville that feature drive-thrus. They have experienced significant success and have received positive feedback from customers who appreciate the convenience.

Carlos has envisioned this for Yorkville – “Think about your Taco Tuesday orders — being able to swing by, grab your food, and go makes all the difference.

Carlos stated that adding a drive-thru would create job opportunities at the new restaurant.

The EDC report indicates that the new Salsa Verde location is expected to open around May 1, 2025.

This relocation and expansion mark a significant development for both Salsa Verde and the Yorkville community, providing more space and convenience for customers to enjoy their favorite Mexican cuisine.

Carlos expressed what the relocation meant to his family, “This move is about growing with our hometown and continuing to meet the needs of the community.”

Dining at a local restaurant directly supports your community. Often, these establishments are owned and operated by your neighbors, friends, and family. The money you spend stays within the local economy, helping to create jobs and enhance the overall vitality of your town.

The Aréchiga family also wanted the community to know that the existing location would not remain empty for long. They plan on opening Lola’s Handcrafted Churros. It will specialize in artisanal churros and specialty coffees.

The family currently operates a Lola’s in Lisle, Illinois, and they are excited to bring this concept to the Yorkville community.

Carlos expressed, “ We can’t wait to introduce Yorkville to these sweet bites everyone loves. It’s the perfect spot to stop in for a cozy coffee break, a delicious treat, or a little pick-me-up any time of day.”
